Job summary

JBS Townsville Plant is seeking several Co-Products Labourers to operate rendering equipment and produce tallow, grease, blood meal, and bone meal in a hygienic environment. This full-time role involves hands-on work in the By-Products area using the tallow processing plant, cooker, and press.

Ideal candidates will have good communication, teamwork, physical fitness, reliable work ethic, and full Australian working rights. Prior red meat industry experience is advantageous.

Job description

JBS Townsville is currently recruiting several Co-Products Labourers (By-Products) to join the team in a full-time capacity. As a Co-Products Labourer, you will use rendering equipment to process animal by-product materials for the production of tallow, grease, blood meal, and high-protein bone meal. The rendering process simultaneously dries the material and separates the fat from the bone and protein, yielding a fat commodity and a protein meal. Rendering is a process that converts waste animal tissue into stable, usable materials.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Operating the tallow processing plant
• Operating the continuous cooker
• Operating the press
• Producing rendered products in a hygienic manner
• Assisting in the By-Products plant to process meat and bone meal, tallow and gall

About You

• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment
• Fit for physical work
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Have been Q Fever vaccinated or willing to have vaccination
• Full working rights in Australia
• Experience in the red meat industry advantageous
• Available to work as part of a rotating shift team; Monday to Friday; up to 24 hours coverage
