Job summary

Ink Joinery in Sydney is seeking an experienced CNC cabinetmaker to set up, operate CNC nesting and edge banding lines, interpreting shop drawings to deliver precise, high-quality components.

You will collaborate with the draftsman, quality-check parts before release to assembly, manage cutting schedules, and assist with assembly and hardware installation as needed. A strong eye for detail and safe, efficient production are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC and edge banding experience in joinery or cabinetmaking.
• Strong ability to read detailed shop drawings and manufacturing specs.
• Attention to detail, quality control and problem-solving.
• Reliable, organised with good time management and team focus.
• CAD/CAM or CNC software experience; forklift licence advantageous.

Job description

Reporting to the Factory Manager, you will set up, adjust and operate CNC nesting machinery and edge banding equipment efficiently and accurately to achieve high-quality finishes, safely loading and unloading materials. You will read and interpret detailed shop drawings, cutting lists and manufacturing specifications, verifying CNC programs against approved shop drawings and production requirements before machining. You will consult directly with the in-house draftsman to clarify drawings, identify discrepancies, and resolve potential manufacturing issues before cutting. You will quality-check cut and edged components before release to assembly, organise and prioritise cutting schedules to meet production deadlines, and assist with general cabinetmaking duties including assembly, machining, hardware installation, and other factory tasks when required.

• Assist with general cabinetmaking duties, including assembly, machining, hardware installation, and other factory tasks when required
• Conduct routine machine cleaning, inspections, and preventative maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times
• Communicate effectively with drafting, factory management and assembly teams to maintain smooth production flow
• Identify and troubleshoot machinery, programming, and manufacturing issues

About you

• Previous experience operating CNC machinery and edge banders in joinery or cabinetmaking, with cabinetmaking experience and the ability to assist with assembly and manufacturing when required
• Strong ability to interpret detailed shop drawings and manufacturing specifications, with a good understanding of board materials, laminates, veneers, edging, and grain direction
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify issues before they become costly mistakes
• Reliable and highly organised, with excellent time management, the ability to work independently and ownership of daily production requirements, accuracy, and deadlines
• Strong communication skills, a team-focused attitude and commitment to workplace safety, cleanliness, and maintaining equipment
• CAD/CAM or CNC software and production systems experience highly regarded
• Forklift licence advantageous
