Job summary

Kentweld Bullbars is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our Toowoomba production team. You will operate CNC Router, Laser and Plasma cutting equipment, read drawings and set up jobs to meet tight tolerances while maintaining safety and quality.

You will oversee one junior operator, coordinate with the Production Manager, and drive production schedules, minimize waste and ensure on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Router, CNC Laser and CNC Plasma Cutting machines.
• Read and interpret drawings, job specifications and production requirements.
• Load programs, set machine parameters and complete machine set-ups.
• Ensure components are produced accurately and to required tolerances.
• Check finished work for quality and accuracy.
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues as required.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area.
• Plan and prioritise daily CNC work in accordance with the production schedule.
• Oversee and provide direction to one other staff member in the CNC area.
• Communicate with the Production Manager regarding job progress and material needs.
• Minimise material waste and identify production efficiency improvements.
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our production team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident operating CNC machinery, takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work, and is comfortable providing day-to-day direction to another team member.

The successful applicant will operate a range of CNC equipment including a CNC Router, CNC Laser Cutter and CNC Plasma Cutter and will work closely with our Production Manager to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Router, CNC Laser and CNC Plasma Cutting machines




• Read and interpret drawings, job specifications and production requirements




• Load programs, set machine parameters and complete machine set-ups

• Monitor machine performance and identify or troubleshoot issues as required




• Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area




• Plan and prioritize daily CNC work in accordance with the production schedule




• Oversee and provide direction to one other staff member working within the CNC area




• Regularly communicate with the Production Manager regarding job progress, priorities, material requirements, delays or production issues




• Minimize material waste and identify opportunities to improve production efficiency




• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures

About You

To be successful in this position, you will need to have previous CNC machining/operating experience and be confident working independently.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has proven experience operating CNC machinery




• Ideally has experience with CNC routers, laser cutters and/or plasma cutters




• Can confidently read technical drawings and measurements




• Has good mechanical and problem-solving skills




• Has a strong eye for detail and takes pride in the quality of their work




• Is reliable, organized and able to manage production priorities




• Is comfortable overseeing and assisting another staff member




• Communicates well and can work closely with the Production Manager




• Understands the importance of meeting production deadlines




• Has a strong commitment to workplace safety

Experience with CNC programming, CAD/CAM software and machine troubleshooting would be highly regarded.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC operator looking for a role with greater responsibility and ownership of the CNC production area.

You will be trusted to manage the day-to-day operation of the CNC machines, coordinate work with another team member and maintain regular communication with the Production Manager to keep production running efficiently.

Previous CNC experience is essential.
