Job summary

Hygrade Laser Profiling is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate and maintain CNC mills and lathes, producing precision components to engineering drawings at our Condell Park, NSW facility. You will work on-site with the production team to meet tight deadlines and quality standards.

Responsibilities include setting up machines, CAM programming, inspecting parts with precision instruments, and performing routine maintenance to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or formal CNC training.
• Experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes in manufacturing.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.

Job description

Hygrade Laser Profiling is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team on a full-time basis at our Condell Park, NSW facility. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machinery to produce precision components and parts. This position is crucial to our manufacturing operations, ensuring that we deliver high-quality products to our clients consistently. You will work on-site at our Condell Park location, collaborating with our production team to meet tight deadlines and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operating CNC machines including mills, lathes and related equipment to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications and drawings
• Setting up CNC machines, including tool changes, fixture installation and machine calibration to ensure accurate production
• Programming CNC machines using CAM software and manual G-code programming where required
• Monitoring machine operations to ensure components are produced to specification, maintaining quality standards and tolerances
• Performing regular maintenance and cleaning of CNC machinery to prevent downtime and extend equipment lifespan
• Inspecting finished components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers and gauges
• Troubleshooting machine problems and making minor repairs or adjustments as needed
• Adhering to all health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised work environment
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding production progress, issues and any required modifications
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in production processes

What we're looking for

• Trade qualification or formal training in CNC machining, turning or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of practical experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications
• Working knowledge of CAM software and G-code programming
• Strong understanding of precision measurement and quality control techniques
• Competency in basic troubleshooting and routine machine maintenance
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing work to high-quality standards
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong time management skills with the ability to meet production deadlines
• Valid driver's licence (preferred)
