Job summary

Pearson Carter is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, implement, secure and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments. You will work with engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable platforms aligned with business requirements.

Your role includes securing cloud networking (VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, DNS), configuring Palo Alto firewalls, and growing Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK and TypeScript.

Qualifications

• Experience designing cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
• Proficiency with IaC and CDK in TypeScript.
• Strong networking and security knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Designing, deploying and managing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Designing and implementing secure cloud networking solutions, including VPCs and VNets, subnets, routing, DNS and connectivity.
• Configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls, security groups and network controls.
• Maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using AWS CDK and TypeScript, with improvements through review processes.
• Monitoring cloud infrastructure for performance, availability and security using cloud-native and third-party tools.
• Supporting cloud migration initiatives and hybrid cloud architecture design.
• Designing secure connectivity solutions including VPNs and Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.
• Maintaining CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions runners across environments.
• Supporting vulnerability management and remediation within required timelines.
• Troubleshooting cloud, networking and firewall-related issues.
• Supporting deployment infrastructure for web apps and on-premises software distribution.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing and maintaining cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments. You will work closely with engineering and technical teams to ensure cloud platforms are reliable, secure, scalable and aligned with business requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, deploying and managing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Designing and implementing secure cloud networking solutions, including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, DNS and network connectivity.
• Configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls, security groups, network security groups and other cloud security controls.
• Maintaining and enhancing existing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using AWS CDK and TypeScript, while identifying and proposing improvements through established review processes.
• Monitoring cloud infrastructure for performance, availability, reliability and security using cloud-native and third-party monitoring tools.
• Supporting cloud migration initiatives and the design of hybrid cloud architectures.
• Designing and maintaining secure connectivity solutions, including VPNs, site-to-site VPNs, client VPNs, AWS Direct Connect and Azure ExpressRoute.
• Maintaining the infrastructure that supports CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions runners, cloud environments and deployment targets.
• Supporting vulnerability management processes, including identifying, investigating and remediating security vulnerabilities within required timelines.
• Troubleshooting and resolving cloud, networking and firewall-related issues.
• Supporting deployment infrastructure for web applications and on-premises software distribution.
