Job summary

Voak is seeking a Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer to design, build and operate cloud platforms across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud. You will implement IaC, CI/CD and automation, ensuring secure, scalable and compliant solutions for government and industry clients.

You will collaborate in agile teams, translate business needs into practical architectures, and mentor colleagues while advancing cloud capabilities across our Canberra-based engagements.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building and managing cloud platforms across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
• Practical IaC and platform automation using Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or similar.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, and security concepts.
• Experience integrating cloud services with enterprise systems and PaaS/serverless/messaging.
• Ability to translate business needs into architectures and guidance for engineers.
• Experience in agile, multidisciplinary teams with adaptable scope.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.

Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer

As we grow our cloud and technology delivery capability, Voak is looking for hands‑on cloud professionals across a range of skills and levels, from architecture to implementation.

We want motivated, collaborative people who enjoy solving hard technical problems and like seeing their work run in production. You'll work across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, designing, building, and operating platforms that are secure, reliable and practical to support. You'll join a team of like‑minded people delivering real outcomes for our clients and for Australia.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following capabilities and attributes:

• Experience designing, building and managing cloud platforms and services in Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and platform automation, using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity and security, including virtual networks, private connectivity, role‑based access control and secrets management
• Experience integrating cloud‑based systems with enterprise and third‑party platforms, including PaaS, serverless, API and messaging services
• The ability to turn business and stakeholder needs into clear architectures, designs and technical guidance that engineering teams can build from
• Experience working in agile, multi‑disciplinary teams, with the flexibility to adjust scope and direction as new information emerges
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative approach that lifts the people around you

Experience delivering for Federal Government or Defence is highly regarded, as is familiarity with whole‑of‑government standards such as the ISM and the Digital Service Standard. Cloud certifications are well regarded but not essential, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert and Azure Developer Associate, or similar certifications across other cloud providers such as AWS and Google.

All roles require a current Baseline security clearance at minimum, with NV1 preferred. Roles are strictly Canberra based.
