Job summary

Vertali is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect/Cloud Engineer for a Federal Government contract. The role is a 12‑month engagement with potential extensions, preferably based in Canberra in a hybrid setup, or from an Australian capital city with periodic travel to Canberra.

Mandatory Baseline clearance and 5+ years local experience are required. Start mid-October 2026, full-time with flexible hybrid arrangements.

Qualifications

• Australian citizen with Baseline clearance or ability to obtain.
• Minimum 5 years of local work experience in cloud/IT.
• Experience implementing cloud-based solutions in Azure.
• Proficient with Azure DevOps for code, CI/CD and IaC.
• Knowledge of Dynamics 365 CRM integration.
• Understanding of Azure networking, security and identity management.
• Ability to work with dispersed teams and mentor colleagues.
• Experience with Agile multidisciplinary teams.
• 3+ years designing architectures for large enterprise systems; AWS/GCP desirable.

Job description

Our Federal Government client, is looking for a Multiple Senior Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer for a contract role with an initial 12-month engagement and a likely further extensions. They are looking for someone, preferably based in Canberra, ACT in a hybrid capacity but will also consider, for a suitable candidate, someone from an Australian capital city, also working in a hybrid capacity from their state-based office. For this latter engagement ad-hoc travel will be required to Canberra from time to time.

Note:

• MANDATORY, all candidates must be an Australian citizen and hold a current Baseline clearance OR be able to obtain Baseline clearance,
• All candidates must have the skills and experience listed below, and
• Have at least 5 year's relevant local working experience in the field.
• Cloud experience: Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including:

• Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
• Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights

• Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM

• Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control

Agile

• Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience 5yrs+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies.

The Cloud Architect/Engineer will:

• Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure.
• Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards
• Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
• Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
• Minimum 3 years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems. Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
