Job summary

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Central Operations is seeking a Clinical Director Retrieval Services to lead aeromedical retrieval and 24/7 clinical care for remote SA/NT communities. You will guide a team of doctors, drive clinical governance and innovate service delivery in line with NSQHS standards.

You will work closely with the Executive General Manager of Medical and Retrieval Services to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of rural healthcare while maintaining sustainability

Qualifications

• Unrestricted Specialist Medical Practitioner registration with AHPRA.
• Fellowship with FACEM, FANZCA, FIMC (UK) or FRACGP/FACRRM.
• Minimum three years’ experience in Anaesthesia and/or Emergency medicine.
• Minimum two years’ training in a critical care environment.
• Experience in procedural skills, obstetrics, resuscitation and paediatrics.
• Understanding of primary healthcare, allied healthcare and nursing colleagues.
• Experience supervising and mentoring consultants, registrars and medical students.
• Highly developed leadership, management and communication skills.

About this Opportunity

The Clinical Director Retrieval Services is the medical head of aeromedical retrieval services in RFDS SA/NT. The role supports the Executive General Manager of Medical and Retrieval Services and leads a team of doctors in the achievement of our strategic goals, ensuring the delivery of 24/7 high quality aeromedical clinical care and best practice clinical governance aligned to NSQHS standards. The role is also responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of alternative and innovative service delivery methodologies.

You’ll come to work knowing that your efforts are enabling our organisation to remain at the forefront of rural and remote health care delivery and advocacy. Importantly, you’re also helping ensure our organisation is efficient, effective and sustainable now and in the future.

About You

• Unrestricted or appropriate Specialist Medical Practitioner registration with AHPRA

• A good understanding of and appreciation for primary healthcare, allied healthcare and your nursing colleagues
• Experience supervising and mentoring consultants, registrars and medical students
• Highly developed leadership, management and communication skills

Ideally, you will also have experience in remote area medicine, along with a well-developed understanding of rural and remote Australia and the challenges of providing first class healthcare within these environments.
