Job summary

St Vincent's Health Australia is seeking an experienced AI Delivery engineer to transform prototypes into governed production AI solutions within healthcare operations. You will join the Data, Analytics, AI & Interoperability team and collaborate with clinical, governance, privacy and legal colleagues to ensure safe, scalable deployment.

You will build on a Databricks-based stack with Azure OpenAI, MCP and an enterprise API gateway, delivering AI capabilities across clinical and operational

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software, data or ML engineering with AI solution delivery.
• Ownership of at least one AI-enabled solution from prototype to production.
• Proficient Python, plus TypeScript/Java/C# or Java; build clean, tested services and APIs.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI) with authentication and error handling.
• Hands-on with agentic AI using orchestration frameworks and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Experience building RAG solutions with vector DBs and embedding models.
• Solid ML lifecycle knowledge: feature engineering, training, validation, deployment with scikit-learn/PyTorch/Hugging Face.

Responsibilities

• Build, test and deploy production AI solutions with maintainable code.
• Design agentic AI solutions using orchestration frameworks and MCP.
• Integrate LLMs into clinical and operational workflows via secure APIs.
• Develop on the CDAI platform consuming governed data through Unity Catalog.
• Prepare data for model development and evaluation.
• Build and validate ML models where appropriate; prefer traditional ML when suitable.
• Implement MLOps including versioning, experiment tracking and monitoring.
• Create reusable AI accelerators and contribute to team libraries.
• Document patterns and coach staff on self-service AI tooling.
