Job summary

Xavier Catholic College, Ballina, is seeking a Classroom and Learning Support role within our Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools. The position is part-time and temporary, with 60 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday, during term time.

The successful candidate will support students with special needs, including autism, be aware of allergies, trained in EpiPen use, and work with staff to document progress and tailor individual programs. Training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Catholic ethos and school mission.
• Experience with children with special needs including autism.
• Awareness of needs of students with allergies; training in EpiPen use.
• Ability to implement programs and document progress for individuals/small groups.
• Willingness to undertake further training.

This role is classified as Level 4 averaged under the NSW and ACT Systemic Catholic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2025 as updated or reviewed.

Applicants must:

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

• a knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic ethos and mission of the school.
• experience in working with children with special needs, including children on the autistic spectrum
• awareness of the needs of students with diagnosed allergies and training in the use of EpiPen
• ability to successfully implement programs and document progress regarding individual and/or small group support
• preparedness to undergo further training in aiding children with special needs
• experience in working collaboratively with teaching staff in a classroom environment
