Job summary

JRT Group is currently seeking an experienced Excavator Operator for immediate start across Rockhampton, Yeppoon and surrounding areas in Central Queensland. The role demands reliable, safety-conscious operators able to work independently or with the team on civil construction and earthworks projects.

The ideal candidate will have proven excavator experience, a strong safety mindset and the ability to follow site plans and project specs, with additional qualification in GPS controlled machinery

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators in civil construction or earthworks.
• Capable of working across various excavation tasks with accuracy.
• Must hold a Construction White Card and HR licence is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and productively on civil projects.
• Undertake bulk excavation, trenching, drainage and earthworks.
• Prepare sites, load trucks and handle materials.
• Follow site plans, levels and project specifications.
• Conduct daily pre-starts and report faults; complete timesheets.

CIVIL EXCAVATOR OPERATORS - IMMEDIATE START

Job Title: EXPERIENCED EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

Location:Rockhampton & Yeppoon, QLD

JRT Group is seeking an experienced, reliable and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team, working across a range of civil construction and earthworks projects throughout Rockhampton, Yeppoon and surrounding areas.

This role requires more than just strong operating skills. We're looking for someone who is switched on, takes pride in their work, can operate machinery with accuracy and efficiency, and is confident working both independently and as part of a team.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be an experienced Excavator Operator who is confident undertaking a variety of civil construction and earthmoving tasks, with the ability to operate other heavy equipment highly regarded.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Operating excavators safely, efficiently and productively across civil construction projects
• Undertaking bulk excavation, trenching, drainage, batter work, detailed excavation and general earthworks
• Carrying out site preparation, loading trucks, material handling and backfilling operations
• Working accurately to site plans, levels, set-outs and project specifications
• Performing detailed excavation and final trim work to required tolerances
• Working safely around underground services, other machinery and site personnel
• Confidently operating other earthmoving equipment when required and appropriately qualified
• Working independently and taking responsibility for operational decisions when required
• Conducting daily pre-start inspections, basic maintenance and reporting equipment faults
• Completing required documentation, including pre-starts, dockets and timesheets
• Maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, quality workmanship and site requirements
• Working Monday to Friday, with some Saturday work as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Have proven experience operating excavators within the civil construction or earthworks industry
• Be a confident and competent operator with experience across a variety of excavation tasks
• Have experience in bulk earthworks, trenching, drainage and detailed excavation
• Be capable of working accurately to levels, site plans and project specifications
• Have a sound understanding of safe excavation practices and working around underground services
• Be alert, switched on and safety-focused, with the ability to respond appropriately in a busy operational environment
• Be reliable, trustworthy and capable of working independently or as part of a team
• Have the confidence and judgement to make operational decisions when required
• Hold a current Construction White Card
• Have your own reliable transport
• Have GPS machine control and final trim experience – highly regarded
• Have experience operating other heavy earthmoving equipment – highly regarded
• Hold an HR licence – highly regarded but not essential
