Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Civil Estimator role based in Maitland, NSW. The Civil Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction and earthmoving projects, including subdivisions, road and pavement works, and bulk and detailed earthworks. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specifications, conducting quantity take-offs, requesting and analyzing supplier and subcontractor quotes, and developing competitive tenders and budgets. The role involves collaborating with project managers and site supervisors to refine estimates, assess construction methodologies, and support risk management and project planning. The Civil Estimator will also maintain estimating databases, track market pricing, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and bid strategies.

Qualifications

• Estimation and cost planning skills, including quantity take-offs, rate build-ups, and preparation of tender submissions for civil works.
• Technical understanding of civil construction, earthworks, pavements, and related methodologies, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with proficiency in Excel and estimating software or relevant digital tools.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with project managers, site teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple bids, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Relevant experience in civil construction or earthmoving estimating; prior field or site experience is highly regarded.
• Certificate, diploma, or degree in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to project challenges.
