• Proven experience as a civil estimator or in a similar estimating role.
• Strong knowledge of civil and earthworks construction practices.

This is a pivotal role that combines technical engineering expertise with estimating capabilities, positioning you at the heart of our project delivery process. As a Civil Estimator/Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing tender processes, and providing technical support throughout project lifecycles. Your work will directly influence project profitability, client satisfaction, and the strategic growth of our organisation within the civil construction sector.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for civil and earthworks projects of varying scales and complexity
• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and site conditions to develop accurate and competitive tender submissions
• Conduct site inspections and assessments to inform estimating processes and identify potential risks or opportunities
• Liaise with project managers, clients, and suppliers to gather information necessary for comprehensive project costing
• Utilise estimating software and tools to develop, track, and maintain cost data and historical records
• Provide technical engineering support during the pre-contract and post-contract phases of projects
• Review tender documentation and contractual terms to ensure clarity and alignment with company capabilities
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to monitor actual costs against estimates and identify variances
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, methodologies, and resource planning
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of material costs, labour rates, equipment hire charges, and industry trends

What we're looking for

• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline
• Proven experience as a civil estimator or in a similar estimating role within the construction or civil engineering sector
• Strong technical knowledge of civil and earthworks construction practices, methodologies, and standards
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Knowledge of Australian construction industry standards, codes, and compliance requirements
• Sound understanding of project management principles and construction methodologiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadline pressures
• Professional memberships with relevant bodies (such as Engineers Australia) are highly desirable
