Job summary

AECOM invites talented Civil Engineering students to join its Mackay team as a Summer Intern for a 12-week paid program. You will work across lifecycle stages from concept through construction, gaining exposure to major road and transport projects and practical industry experience.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, build technical knowledge, and participate in AECOM's Summer Series and networking activities designed to broaden career pathways in a global consultancy.

Qualifications

• Summer Intern attributes: Interns who are curious and excited to apply their studies in a professional environment. You'll bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity.
• Bachelor's Degree: You must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering with a strong interest in transport and roads.
• Commencement: Able to work full time hours from 16 November 2026 – 19 February 2027.
• Working Rights: You must have full working rights to work in Australia or New Zealand before applying. We do accept candidates with student and graduate visas.

Responsibilities

• Support projects across different stages of the project lifecycle, from concept design through to construction and operation.
• Assist with engineering design, project coordination, technical documentation and site activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Contribute to developing innovative and sustainable solutions to real-world engineering challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help deliver major roadway and transport infrastructure projects.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits and learning opportunities to build your technical knowledge and professional skills.
• Gain hands-on experience while working alongside industry experts on projects that help shape communities.
