Job summary

Yarra City Council in Melbourne is seeking a Civil Construction Works Operator to join the Road Services Unit. The role involves operating heavy machinery and supporting civil construction and road maintenance across the municipality.

You will work within a safety-conscious team, complete daily plant inspection sheets and activity logs, assist with traffic management, and ensure equipment is secured at the end of each day. HR licence and traffic management qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil construction, including asphalt, concrete, and drainage works.
• Proficiency operating heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, skid steers).
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and site protocols.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Civil Construction and Road Maintenance: Assist with maintenance and repair of roads, footpaths, kerbs, channels, and drainage infrastructure; support concreting, asphalting, and bluestone works; operate heavy machinery for excavation, grading, levelling, material spreading, compaction, and site clean-up; address safety hazards; maintain records of work and equipment usage; assist with traffic management and site safety setups.
