Job summary

Peabody Energy’s Wilpinjong Mine in New South Wales seeks an experienced CHPP Operator Maintainer. Reporting to the CHPP Shift Supervisor, you will operate the Coal Preparation Plant, monitor production, and work within a small crew to maintain plant efficiency and safety.

The role requires a proactive team player with a mechanical background, capable of working a 24/7 rotating roster, and committed to safety and environmental standards in a premier coal operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years operations/maintenance experience in a CHPP.
• Mechanical trade (highly desirable).
• Be a proactive team player and safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the Coal Preparation Plant to optimise production and quality.
• Identify hazards and follow HSE policies.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections.
• Support train loading operations and stockpile management.
• Maintain CHPP equipment during scheduled maintenance periods.

Our Wilpinjong Mine is an open‑cut coal mining operation located in the western coalfields of New South Wales, approximately 40–50 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, near the village of Wollar. Wilpinjong produces high‑quality thermal coal for both domestic and export energy markets, and is one of Peabody’s most productive and lowest‑cost operations.

About the role:

Reporting to the CHPP Shift Supervisor, the scope of your role will be to operate all areas of the Coal Preparation plant in line with production schedules whilst working within a small crew.

The majority of trade work is completed by external contractors on planned regular shutdowns, so this is more of a processing and first pass maintaining / trade role with good variety.

Endeavouring to providevariety in the day,rotating the CHPP tasks through the day, duties will include:

• Operate and monitor preparation plant to optimize production and quality as directed by the CHPP Production Supervisor.
• Identify, report and act on all hazards whilst complying with the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
• Perform train loading operations in line with train schedules and blend parameters.
• Perform CHPP roving duties to monitor CHPP performance and make adjustments as required.
• Perform first response breakdown maintenance tasks as required.
• Conduct P.M. inspections.
• Operate stockpile dozers to managethe product coal stockpile.
• Operate stockpile dozers for reclaim operations and train loading.
• Maintain CHPP equipment as requested during scheduled maintenance periods.
• Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the CHPP and Train Loadout.

The successful candidate mustbe a proactive team player, as well as:

• Minimum of 3 years operations/maintenance experience in aCHPP
• Mechanical trade (highly desirable)
• Have demonstrated a positive work ethic;
• Be an effective team player;
• Be willing to work on a 24/7 rotating shift roster
