Job summary

Centurion, owned by Peabody Energy, seeks a CHPP Supervisor to lead the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant at the Centurion underground mine, 160 km west of Mackay. You will drive safe, efficient operations, coach a high-performing team and partner with Mining, Maintenance and Logistics to achieve production and quality targets.

This role focuses on safety, continuous improvement and reliable plant performance in a premier underground operation with 25+ year mine life.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated CHPP supervisory experience in a mining or heavy industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of CHPP processes, coal preparation and production management.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop a team while delivering safety and production targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the CHPP operations team, ensuring safe execution of daily activities.
• Foster a strong safety culture through risk management, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate CHPP production activities to meet throughput, yield, product quality and train loading targets.
• Manage plant breakdowns and troubleshooting to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
• Develop, coach and mentor team members to build capability and drive high performance.
• Ensure contractor management aligns with site standards and safety expectations.
• Collaborate with Mining, Maintenance and Logistics to maximise efficiency.
• Monitor water systems and process performance across the CHPP.
• Maintain accurate shift reports, production records and data in site systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability and outcomes.

The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experienced CHPP Supervisor to join the team at our Centurion underground mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to the CHPP Manager, you will provide leadership to the CHPP operations team, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant. You will play a critical role in achieving production, quality and safety objectives while developing a high-performing operational team.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant reliability, productivity and operational outcomes.

About You

You are a safety-focused leader with strong operational experience and a passion for developing people, improving plant performance and delivering results.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated CHPP operational and supervisory experience.
• Relevant trade qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or similar) highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of CHPP processes, coal preparation and production management.
• Experience leading teams within a mining, processing or heavy industrial environment.
• Proven ability to safely deliver production and quality targets.
• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to foster a positive safety culture.
• Sound knowledge of risk management and hazard identification processes.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching and team development capability.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A proactive, collaborative and team-focused approach.
