Responsibilities

• Operate fixed and mobile plant machinery including conveyers and wheel loaders.
• Perform daily pre-start inspections of machinery and equipment.
• Carry out general labouring tasks and keep the work area clean and safe.
• Inspect wood chips, manage inventory, and enter data into the system.
• Assist with knife room maintenance and blade sharpening.
• Maintain a strong focus on health and safety across the site.

About the Position
Pentarch Logistics division provides portside storage, quality control, measurement and logistics solutions for the export of log and allied wood products within Australia.
We are seeking Operator’sto join our team based at our Burnie site, where you will be involved with a range of duties including the receival and processing of whole log products. If you enjoy working across different equipment and machinery we are interested in talking to you.
We are looking for candidates to join us, picking up shift’s from Monday to Friday starting from 6am daily. We offer a competitive hourly rate starting at $30.20 + super and training across multiple areas of our site.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• The use of various fixed and mobile plant machinery including conveyer systems and our on-site fleet, including wheel loaders.
• Daily machinery and equipment pre-start inspections.
• General labouring duties including ensuring the work area is clean and free of debris on an ongoing basis.
• Wood chip inspection, inventory management and database entry.
• Assist and support in maintaining machinery and equipment including knife room operations, such as the identification of dull blades and setting blades into our sharpening machine.
• Having a constant focus on health & safety across all areas of our site.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Previous experience in machine operating, labouring, manual handling or in a production environment is highly desirable although full training is provided.
• A positive attitude at work, whilst being reliable and punctual.
• A strong commitment to safety is essential.
• Knowledge of the timber industry is favourable.
• Be physically fit, with the ability to manually handle various sizes of timber product.
• The ability to work effectively within a team environment and produce work to a high standard.
