Job summary

Wood for Good, part of the Project Green Group, is seeking a Wood Yard Operator to join the team on a casual basis. You will manage and operate yard equipment to process and store wood products, while coordinating with team members and maintaining safety standards in an outdoor environment.

Immediate start is available, with pre-employment medical including audiometric testing. Opportunities to operate various machinery may arise based on your skills and licensing.

Qualifications

Who We Are

As part of the Project Green Group of Companies, Wood for Good is a Social Enterprise that has been set up for the purpose of re-cycling quality by-products from tree works carried out by its associated sister company, Austral Tree Services. All profits from the sale of firewood and kindling are distributed to various charities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a team orientated and motivated problem solver to join the wood production team on a casual basis with work-life flexibility.

The Wood Yard Operator is responsible for managing and operating equipment within the wood yard to ensure the efficient handling, processing, and storage of wood products. This role involves, at times, coordinating team members, operating and maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Processing of firewood through automated Rex Firewood Splitter.

Assisting in other duties at times to support Austral Tree services.

Driving and Delivery.

Based on your skills there maybe opportunities to operate various types of machinery, including Lucas milling machine, stump grinders, excavators, forklifts, loaders, log saw, bench saw, splitter, chainsaws, and loaders.

Skills & Experience

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Experience in the use of chainsaws
• A current and unrestricted MR truck licence
• Experience in the use of excavators and loaders
• Experience operating Milling Equipment (Desirable)
• Attention to detail and excellent organisational and time management skills
• Capability to stand, walk, or be on feet for extended periods of time and perform repetitive motions, such as bending, crouching, or reaching
• Ability to operate heavy machinery regularly and safely
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong focus on safety and compliance with QSE standards
• Happy to work in an outside environment
