Job summary

Benmax in Canberra is seeking an experienced Chiller Service Technician to service and maintain large-scale chiller plants in commercial or industrial settings. You will work across centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers, with a supportive team and clear path for career progression.

This full-time role offers monthly RDOs, regular overtime, a company vehicle or vehicle allowance, relocation support, ongoing training, and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Cert III in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration required.
• ARCtick license, White Card, Silica & Asbestos Awareness certs, and a valid Australian Driver's Licence.
• Experience servicing/commercial or industrial chiller plants (centrifugal, screw or scroll).
• Solid understanding of refrigeration circuits, compressor types and condenser water systems.
• Strong fault-finding ability with a customer-focused mindset and good time management.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and maintain large-scale chiller plant, condenser water systems and related cooling tower equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, performance testing and calibration on chillers to maintain peak efficiency.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and refrigeration faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
• Work with building management systems (BMS) and controls where required.
• Complete documentation and job reporting to a high standard.
• Communicate clearly with clients, team members and management.
• Prioritise safety and maintain quality on every job.

About The Role

You’ll be working across a range of commercial and industrial chiller systems in the ACT and surrounds, including centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers, both air-cooled and water-cooled. Whether you’re on a solo job or alongside a teammate, you’ll be backed by a crew that knows their stuff and looks out for each other.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Diagnose, service, and maintain large-scale chiller plant, condenser water systems, and associated cooling tower equipment
• Carry out preventative maintenance, performance testing, and calibration on chiller systems to keep them running at peak efficiency
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration faults, and carry out repairs efficiently and professionally
• Work with building management systems (BMS) and controls where required
• Complete documentation and job reporting to a high standard
• Communicate clearly with clients, team members, and management
• Prioritise safety and maintain quality on every job

What you’ll need

• Cert III in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (essential)
• Hold a current ARCtick licence, White Card, Silica and Asbestos Awareness certification, and a valid Australian Driver's Licence
• Previous service and maintenance experience on commercial or industrial chiller plant (centrifugal, screw, or scroll chillers)
• Sound understanding of refrigeration circuits, compressor types, and condenser water systems
• Strong fault-finding ability, a customer-focused mindset, and solid time management skills
• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment
