Job summary

The Hills Shire Council is seeking a part-time Childcare Assistant to support early learning programs in our community. You will assist in delivering play-based activities and collaborate closely with families to promote safe, engaging, and inclusive care for children.

The role emphasises child safety and adherence to national standards. You will work 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 12:30pm–5:30pm, with a competitive hourly rate and weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Certificate III of Early Childhood Education and Care is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR are required.
• Child Protection training certificate (CHCPRT025) is required.
• A valid NSW Working with Children Check is required.
• A NSW Class C Driver's Licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities aligned to the National Quality Framework and EYLF.
• Maintain safety standards and act as first aider when needed.
• Create a secure, welcoming environment where children can express themselves and feel valued.
• Deliver play-based learning programs responsive to children's interests and developmental needs.
• Build trusting partnerships with families and involve them in their child’s learning and safety.

What does this role look like:

• Assist with activities consistent with the national quality framework, collaborating with families, children, and staff to exceed National Quality Standards.
• Participate in maintaining safety standards, act as a first aid officer when needed.
• Creating an environment where children feel emotionally secure, protected, and confident expressing themselves, knowing their voices are valued.
• Assist in the delivery of play-based learning programs aligned with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V.2) that are responsive to children’s interests, strengths, and developmental needs.
• Actively building trusting, respectful, and transparent partnerships with families, recognizing them as key contributors to their child’s safety, learning, and development.
• Always modelling professional conduct and taking responsibility for upholding child safe policies, procedures, and ethical practice.
