Job summary

The Hills Shire Council is seeking a passionate Childcare Assistant to support early learning. Based in Sydney's Hills area, the role runs Monday to Friday 12:30pm–5:30pm, 25 hours per week, with a focus on safety, wellbeing and giving children a voice.

You will work with families and staff to deliver play-based programs aligned with QA and EYLF, maintain safety standards, and model professional conduct while upholding child safe policies.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• CHCPRT025 Child Protection training.
• NSW Working with Children Check is required.
• Valid NSW Driver's Licence (Class C).
• These are the essential checks to ensure child safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities aligned with the National Quality Framework.
• Maintain safety standards and act as a first aider when needed.
• Create an emotionally secure environment where children feel safe and heard.
• Deliver play-based learning programs aligned with NQF and EYLF.
• Build trusting partnerships with families and carers.
• Uphold child-safe policies and professional conduct at all times.

• Assist with activities consistent with the national quality framework, collaborating with families, children, and staff to exceed National Quality Standards.


• Participate in maintaining safety standards, act as a first aid officer when needed.


• Creating an environment where children feel emotionally secure, protected, and confident expressing themselves, knowing their voices are valued.


• Assist in the delivery of play-based learning programs aligned with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V.2) that are responsive to children's interests, strengths, and developmental needs.


• Actively building trusting, respectful, and transparent partnerships with families, recognizing them as key contributors to their child's safety, learning, and development.


• Always modelling professional conduct and taking responsibility for upholding child safe policies, procedures, and ethical practice.

What are we seeking:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding and maintaining child safety and ethical professional practice, and hold:

• A Certificate III of Early Childhood Education and Care


• Current First Aid and CPR


• Child Protection training certificate (CHCPRT025)


• A valid NSW Working with Children Check


• A Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW
