Job summary

Glen Innes Severn Council is seeking casual OOSH staff to lead activities for children aged 5-12 and support a safe, engaging after-school care program in our community. You will work under the Educator Supervisor to plan and evaluate learning experiences in line with the My Time Our Place framework, documenting progress and ensuring developmental needs are met.

Essential qualifications include CHC30121, 18+ years, Working with Children Check, and a valid Class C driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121).
• Age 18 years or older (state licensing requirement).
• Ability to meet Criminal Record and Police Check and NSW Working with Children Check.
• Current Class C driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Implement individual and group activities for children aged 5-12 years in OOSH programs.
• Assist Educator Supervisor to implement and evaluate activity programs aligned with NQS.
• Support delivery of curriculum-based programs using My Time Our Place Framework and document learning.
• Engage in professional development including child protection training.
• Promote safe, inclusive environments respecting diversity and community aspirations.
• Follow reporting processes for child safety and Mandatory Reporter Guide as required.
• Assist with activities across the Children and Family Services Section and Playgroups when required.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality service delivery and NSW Child Safe Standards.

THE POSITION

This position will implement individual and group activities for children aged 5-12 years in OOSH programs and provide care and supervision conducive to their needs and development.

Reporting to the Educator Supervisor you will:

• Assist the Educator Supervisor to implement and evaluate activity programs in line with the National Quality Standards (NQS) and prioritise the rights, health and safety of all children.
• Support the delivery of curriculum‑based programs using the My Time Our Place Framework, including documenting children’s learning and contributing to engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences.
• Engage in professional development and training in child protection continuously.
• Be committed to child safety, respect and value all children, have an understanding of children’s different developmental needs and use culturally safe practices.
• Promote positive relationships with children and families, contributing to an inclusive, welcoming environment that respects diversity and community aspirations.
• Understand and follow reporting requirements and processes as part of child safe practices
• Maintain an understanding of obligations of mandatory reporting obligations, follow the Mandatory Reporter Guide (MRG), and lodge reports through the Child Protection Helpline and ChildStory eReport system when required.
• Assist with activities across the Children and Family Services Section, including supporting Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) funded Playgroups when required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure safe, high‑quality service delivery consistent with Council policies, procedures and the NSW Child Safe Standards.
• Promote and foster positive partnerships with families which contribute to a strong, inclusive community within the service, presenting a welcoming environment where the diversity of families and communities, and the aspirations they hold for their children, are respected and promoted as the foundation of the service.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Specifically, you will have:

• Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121)
• Age of 18 years or older (state licensing requirement)
• Ability to meet the requirements for a Criminal Record and Police Check and NSW Working with Children Check
• Current Class C driver's licence (Car Licence)
