Puggles School of Early Learning in Tamworth NSW is seeking an Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team on a part‑time basis. The role supports the Centre Cook with daily meal preparation and safe food handling for children aged 0–6 years.

You will work approximately 12 hours per week, Thursday and Friday, roughly 4–6 hours per day, in a warm, family‑owned setting that values fresh meals, sustainability and teamwork.

Qualificações

• Experience in food preparation within a kitchen/hospitality setting preferred.
• Current or willing to obtain a Food Handling Certificate.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with the daily preparation of nutritious meals and snacks for children.
• Support the Centre Cook with kitchen tasks and food prep.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and comply with food safety procedures.
• Wash dishes and operate kitchen equipment as needed.
• Work collaboratively with the Cook and the wider centre team.

Puggles School of Early Learning is a family‑owned and operated early childhood education and care centre in Tamworth, providing a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for children aged 0–6 years.

We are passionate about providing nutritious meals, encouraging healthy eating habits and promoting sustainability through our kitchen garden and paddock‑to‑plate approach.

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and friendly Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team on a part‑time basis.

This position offers approximately 12 hours per week, working Thursdays and Fridays (around 4–6 hours per day), making it a great opportunity for someone seeking regular part‑time work in a supportive environment.

About the Role

Working alongside our Centre Cook, you will assist with the daily preparation and delivery of nutritious meals and snacks for the children attending our centre.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of fresh, healthy meals and snacks.

• Supporting the Cook with daily kitchen tasks and food preparation.

• Assisting with meal preparation for children with allergies, intolerances and specific dietary requirements, following the centre's procedures.

• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.

• Washing dishes, cleaning equipment and completing general kitchen duties.

• Following food safety, hygiene and safe food handling procedures.

• Working collaboratively with the Cook and wider centre team.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in food preparation, hospitality or a kitchen environment (preferred).

• Holds a Food Handling Certificate or is willing to obtain one.

• Holds a current NSW Working with Children Check or is willing to obtain one.

• Has an understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

• Is reliable, organised and able to work efficiently as part of a team.

• Has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

• Enjoys being part of an environment that supports children's health and wellbeing.

Previous experience working in a childcare kitchen would be an advantage, but is not essential.
