Job summary

Latrobe City Council seeks a Manager Sustainability and Environment to lead the Infrastructure and Sustainability leadership team, providing strategic direction across the Sustainability and Environment Department to deliver a sustainable, resilient, and environmentally responsible future for Latrobe City.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of emergency management, environment, landfill and sustainability services, principles, and functions.
• Understanding of Victorian Government policy and strategy context for waste and landfill services.
• Project management skills, capabilities, and experience are a requirement of this role.
• Preparation of accurate project documentation and reports with a good attention to detail.
• Collaboration with stakeholders including Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network and the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation to support successful project development and delivery.
• Identification of emerging issues and opportunities, their causes, and works with team and stakeholders to find solutions.
• Demonstrated strong team leadership and management skills to bring teams together to work cohesively.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Council's Sustainability and Environment Department, including Emergency Management, Environment, Landfill Services and Sustainability functions.
• Develop and deliver long-term strategies, business plans and service improvements that align with Council's objectives and community vision.
• Provide expert strategic advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Council on environmental, sustainability and emergency management matters.
• Drive organisational performance through financial management, project delivery and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, industry bodies, Traditional Owners, community organisations, and key stakeholders.
• Lead, inspire and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
