Job summary

Recruitmark is partnering with a well-established Australian business in the building materials and distribution sector to appoint a commercially minded Chief Financial Officer.

This role is based at the company’s head office in Prestons, New South Wales. You will lead financial reporting, governance and commercial strategy, strengthening reporting and processes across inventory, distribution, systems and administration to support sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Senior finance leadership experience within building materials, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing or another product-led environment.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen across working capital, margins, forecasting and business performance.
• Ability to use systems, data and reporting to improve visibility and support better decision-making.
• Hands-on and collaborative approach, able to balance strategic priorities with operational detail.
• Applicants must be Australian/New Zealand citizens or have Permanent Residency.

Recruitmark is partnering with a well-established and growing Australian business in the building materials and distribution sector to appoint a commercially minded Chief Financial Officer.

This is an opportunity to work alongside the Executive Leadership Team, providing the financial insight, commercial thinking and practical leadership needed to support the organisation's continued growth.

The business is looking for someone who can bring structure and rigour to finance while still being willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved. From strengthening reporting and financial processes to gaining greater visibility across inventory, distribution, systems and administration, your influence will extend well beyond the traditional finance function.

This role is based at the company’s head office in Prestons, New South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

• Shaping financial strategy, planning and performance management to support sustainable growth, profitability and long-term business objectives.
• Managing financial performance across inventory, distribution, working capital and margins, ensuring strong commercial visibility and disciplined financial management.
• Driving business improvement initiatives across finance, systems and processes, strengthening scalability, governance and operational effectiveness.
• Partnering with the Executive Leadership Team and key stakeholders to evaluate commercial opportunities, manage risk and translate financial insights into informed business decisions.
• Maximising the capability of NetSuite and the broader finance function to enhance reporting, data integrity, financial controls and decision-making across the organisation.

About You

• Senior finance leadership experience within building materials, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing or another product-led environment, with a strong understanding of inventory-driven businesses.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen across working capital, margins, cost management, forecasting and business performance.
• Ability to use systems, data and reporting to improve visibility and support better decision-making.
• A curious and commercially minded approach to challenges, with sound judgement and the confidence to challenge, influence and advise senior stakeholders.
• Hands-on and collaborative approach, with the maturity to move between strategic priorities and operational detail and contribute wherever the business needs you.
