Job summary

Bupa Kempsey is seeking an experienced Chef Manager to lead a high-functioning kitchen in our aged care home, delivering quality, nutritious meals that meet resident preferences in a welcoming environment.

You will manage a catering team, oversee food safety, seasonal menus, and collaborate with the Lifestyle team to plan events while upholding infection control and quality standards. This role emphasizes a warm, home-like dining experience supporting residents' wellbeing and dining preferences.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is essential.
• Aged Care / Hotel/Restaurant experience preferred.
• Experience leading a team and managing a budget is desirable.
• Knowledge of Food Audits and safety standards.
• Ability to liaise with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Run an efficient, high-quality dining and catering service for residents.
• Collaborate with Lifestyle team to plan and cater activities/events.
• Meet specialist dietary requirements (e.g. diabetes, weight management).
• Prepare main dishes for lunch and dinner.
• Oversee washing, preparation, cooking of all foods.
• Ensure meals are prepared fresh daily using seasonal produce.
• Manage food purchasing, storage, handling and preparation safely.
• Apply infection control principles per policy and training.
• Complete paperwork per duty list and QA processes.
• Identify training needs for Catering staff and onboard new equipment.
