Job summary

Bupa Kempsey seeks an experienced Chef Manager to lead a busy kitchen, delivering fresh, nutritious meals for residents in a modern aged care home. You will manage a team of catering assistants, plan menus with the Lifestyle team, and ensure all meals meet dietary requirements and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is essential.
• Aged Care / Hotel/Restaurant experience preferred.
• Experience leading a team and managing budgets is desirable.
• Strong time management and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Run an efficient, high-quality dining and catering service for the residents of the care home.
• Collaborate with the Lifestyle team to ensure all activities and events are appropriately planned and catered for.
• Ensure specialist dietary requirements are met (e.g. diabetes, weight management).
• Prepare main dishes for lunch and dinner.
• Oversee food preparation and cooking from vegetables to desserts.
• Ensure meals are prepared fresh daily using seasonal produce.
• Manage food purchasing, storage, handling and preparation according to policies.
• Apply infection control principles and complete paperwork per QA processes.
• Identify training needs of Catering Staff and implement safety or regulatory updates.
