Qualifications

• At least one year of full-time experience as a Chef in a similar setting.
• Strong cooking skills and attention to food quality and presentation.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen operations.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment.
• Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills.
• Availability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to the café's menu, recipes and quality standards.
• Assist with menu planning and the development of specials, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
• Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking and presentation.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, allocate duties and coordinate daily kitchen activities.
• Monitor stock levels, order ingredients and supplies, and ensure correct food storage and stock rotation.
• Assist with estimating food and labour costs, managing portion sizes and minimising waste.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
• Discuss food preparation requirements and resolve operational issues with management and kitchen staff.
• Work with front-of-house staff to accommodate dietary requirements and respond to customer feedback.
