Job summary

Cater Care Group is seeking a qualified and dependable Chef to join Lake Cathie Manor in Lake Cathie, NSW. This permanent part-time role is 15 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate of $35.

You will prepare nutritious, appetising meals for aged care residents and work largely independently in a supportive catering operation. Responsibilities include bulk cooking, texture-modified meals, maintaining hygiene, and ensuring meals are ready for service on schedule.

Your responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of quality meals, ensuring food is nutritious, appetising and prepared in accordance with the requirements of an aged care environment.
• Undertake bulk cooking and food preparation, managing ingredients, preparation tasks and cooking processes to support efficient and timely meal service.
• Prepare texture-modified meals in accordance with residents' dietary requirements, ensuring appropriate preparation methods and food consistency are maintained.
• Work independently to coordinate daily kitchen duties, prioritise tasks and ensure meals are prepared and ready for service according to schedule.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen by following established cleaning procedures and ensuring food preparation areas and equipment meet hygiene standards.
• Comply with food safety and workplace health and safety procedures, including correct food storage, safe handling practices and cross-contamination prevention.

About you

• You possess a recognised trade qualification in cookery and have the foundational knowledge required to perform professional kitchen duties.
• You have experience in bulk cooking and food preparation and can maintain quality and efficiency while preparing meals in larger quantities.
• You are capable of working independently, organising your workload and taking responsibility for completing kitchen duties to a high standard.
• You have an understanding of texture-modified meals and the importance of following individual dietary requirements in an aged care setting.
• You demonstrate reliability, attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining safe kitchen practices and delivering quality meals.
