Angkasa Malaysian Restaurant in Buff Point, NSW, is seeking a passionate Chef to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will prepare, cook and present a variety of dishes, contribute to menu development and help manage daily kitchen operations in a busy restaurant setting.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience as a Chef or in a similar professional kitchen role.
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management, or equivalent relevant qualifications, is preferred.
• Sound knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, ingredients and presentation.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen staff.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present a variety of dishes in accordance with the restaurant's recipes, menu specifications and quality standards.
• Assist in developing and updating menus, including introducing new dishes and seasonal specials that reflect the restaurant's concept and customer preferences.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and smooth kitchen operations.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation to maintain consistent standards.
• Manage kitchen inventory, monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Monitor food wastage and assist in controlling food and labour costs.
• Maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas in a clean and organised condition.
• Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
