Job summary

St Vincent's Care Services in Melbourne is seeking a casual Chef to join a dedicated team delivering high-quality meals for residents. You will lead kitchen activities, ensure safety and hygiene, and collaborate across departments to provide a welcoming dining experience.

The role requires high-volume cooking expertise, a trade qualification in Commercial Cooking, and an FSS certificate. Experience in aged care or hotel settings is preferred, with strong communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Commercial cooking and experience in fine dining or hotels is preferred.
• Current FSS Certificate (Food Safety Supervisor) is required.
• Roster management and budgeting experience while the head chef is away.
• Experience in aged care facilities or bistro/hotel settings is desirable.
• Ability to lead under pressure and drive a strong team culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the kitchen team as part of the leadership group to ensure superior dining service.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Manage rosters and work within approved budgets when the head chef is away.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate care through quality meals.
• Support flexible dietary requirements and ensure consistent, professional service.
