Job summary

Warrigal's Calwell home is seeking a full-time Cook/Chef to deliver well presented, nutritious meals for residents. You will manage all catering and food production and supervise catering staff.

You will develop growth in the industry, ensure food service complies with NSW Food Authority, and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on safety, budgeting, and empathy for older people.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or similar required.
• Extensive cooking experience in a commercial environment.
• Experience in bulk cooking.
• Experience in ordering stock within budget guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal with empathy for older people.
• Strong organisational skills and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to direct and supervise others.
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety issues.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Commitment to workplace equity issues.
• Ensure the food service complies with the NSW Food Authority requirements.
• First aid certificate.
• Food Safety and Food Safety Supervisor certificates.

Responsibilities

• Provide well presented, nutritional meals for residents.
• Manage all aspects of catering and food production including supervision of catering staff.

• Support budget-conscious stock ordering and cost controls.
• Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to meet residents' needs.

The requirements

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or similar
