Job summary

Calvary Norlane in Geelong is seeking a dedicated full-time chef to plan and prepare meals for residents, ensuring individual dietary needs and cultural preferences are met.

You will lead the kitchen in the absence of senior staff, liaise with clinical leadership on dietary requirements, and maintain a safe, clean hospitality environment with flexible hours and opportunities for training.

Qualifications

• Experience in bulk cooking for residents with dietary needs and cultural requirements.
• Experience in aged care or residential/healthcare settings.
• Able to plan menus meeting Food Act and OH&S standards.
• Able to order food and manage within budget.
• Completion of HLTFSE001 or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares and oversees daily meals and beverages meeting residents' individual dietary needs and allergies.
• Lead the kitchen in absence of Home Manager or Chef Manager and guide the team to achieve outcomes.
• Liaise with Clinical Leadership to review resident dietary requirements and document interventions.
• Monitor hospitality areas for hazards and ensure cleanliness and slip-free workplaces.

Education

TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies

Experience in bulk cooking

Experience in aged care or healthcare setting

Menu planning to standards (Food Act, OH&S)

Food cost budgeting and ordering

About the role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time chef to join our dynamic team at Calvary in Norlane. The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparation of meals, while ensuring the individual needs of our residents are being met and makes certain that each resident is offered choice.

Your main duties will include:

• Plans, prepares and oversees the preparation of daily meals and beverages for residents that meets the individual needs of residents including special dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific requirements


• Assume responsibility for the effective running of the kitchen in the absence of Home Manager or Chef Manager including leading the team to ensure effective outcomes


• Liaise with the Clinical Leadership team of the home to ensure resident dietary requirements are reviewed and appropriate dietary interventions are documented as required


• Actively monitors all areas relating to the hospitality environment as work is performed, ensuring that any hazards (e.g. spills, breaks etc.) are addressed promptly and areas are kept clean and slip free

About you

• TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards)


• Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation


• Experience in aged care or residential setting or healthcare setting


• Ability to plan menus to meet standards e.g. Food Act and Occupational Health and Safety


• Ability to order food to meet requirements of menu cycle and keep within budget


• Completion of (HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain
