Job summary

Uniting AgeWell Preston is seeking a passionate Chef for a part-time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am–5:30pm. You will plan, order and prepare nutritious meals, catering to specialised diets and texture-modified foods to enhance residents' dining experiences.

You will ensure HACCP compliance, manage stock, assist with menu planning and work with care teams to deliver person-centred dining.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a Residential Aged Care kitchen (ordering, budgeting and rostering).
  • Experience with specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods.
  • Familiar with HACCP and food safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, order and prepare meals for residents, including specialised diets and texture-modified foods.
  • Maintain HACCP standards, hygiene and kitchen compliance.
  • Manage food orders, stock control and inventory to support operations.
  • Assist with menu planning and reviews to meet residents' preferences.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation and portions for a high dining experience.
  • Keep accurate food safety records and cleaning schedules.
  • Collaborate with care teams to support residents' nutritional needs.

About the role:

Uniting AgeWell Preston is seeking a passionate Chef to join our team on a part-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9:30am to 5:30pm). In this rewarding role, you'll plan, order and prepare nutritious, high-quality meals that enhance the dining experience of our residents, including catering for specialised diets, texture-modified meals and nutritional supplements.


This will include:



  • Planning, ordering and preparing meals that enhance the resident dining experience, in line with all specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods.

  • Ensure the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance are maintained, with strict adherence to HACCP requirements and regulatory standards.

  • Manage food ordering, stock control and inventory levels to support efficient kitchen operations and minimise waste.

  • Assist with menu planning and reviews, ensuring meals are nutritious, appetising and aligned with residents' preferences.

  • Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control to deliver an exceptional dining experience for residents.

  • Maintain accurate food safety records, including temperature monitoring, cleaning schedules and compliance documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with care teams to meet residents' nutritional needs and provide person-centred dining experiences.


About you:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).

  • Have experience in a Residential Aged Care kitchen environment (ordering, budgeting and rostering)

  • Have worked with specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods

  • Fully conversant with HACCP and food safety legislation

  • Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions

  • A current Working With Children Check card

  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
