Job summary

Commonwealth Bank invites expressions of interest for Chapter Lead - ML, Data Science, Gen AI, Agentic AI to lead a specialist data science chapter and shape technical direction across Gen AI initiatives in a regulated environment.

You will partner with product, engineering, platform, MLOps and risk teams to deploy production-ready AI at scale while ensuring safety, governance and customer outcomes. This hands-on leadership role demands strong technical and mentoring skills.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading teams across ML/Gen AI in complex environments.
• Strong foundations in statistics, probability and AI theory.
• Hands-on with production AI solutions, LLMs, NLP and conversational AI.
• Experience scaling AI in enterprise data pipelines and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and deployment of ML, Gen AI and agentic AI solutions, applying advanced statistics and structured problem solving to deliver strategic business outcomes and improve customer experiences.
• Drive solutions from experimentation to production while designing and implementing Gen AI capabilities such as RAG, orchestration, guardrails and agentic AI systems.
• Partner across products, engineering, architecture, platform, MLOps, risk and business teams to define problems, assess technical trade-offs and expand responsible use of data science, machine learning and AI.
• Establish and uplift technical excellence across the chapter, leading best practices while coaching and developing data scientists through technical leadership and knowledge sharing.
