Job summary

Otraco seeks experienced Tyre Fitters/Technicians for McArthur River Mine, Darwin. The role covers planned and reactive tyre changes on mobile mining equipment, with emphasis on safety and data recording in our tyre management system.

You will support on-site workshop, office, stock and personnel to maintain high service standards. FIFO from Darwin on a 2:2 roster, with ample training and progression opportunities in a strong team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Earthmover tyre fitting experience on mine sites.
• Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical Tyre Fitting Heavy (AUR21916/ AUR21920).
• Valid C Class driving licence; HR/LR advantageous.
• Current WorkSafe forklift licence.
• Ability to work autonomously and maintain high safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Undertake planned and reactive tyre changes on a range of mobile mining equipment (e.g., CAT 793D, CAT 777, CAT 789, CAT 995, CAT 6060).
• Perform routine inspections and assess wheel components; record data in the tyre management system.
• Maintain correct tyre pressures and ensure adherence to site specifications.
• Uphold a high level of service to clients and support workshop, office, stock and personnel on site.

Job description

In Australia alone, we have a presence on over 45 mining operations and, due to continued growth and being awarded a new project, we currently have vacancies for OTR Tyre Fitters or Technicians at McArthur River Mine, Darwin.

The McArthur River project is an exciting new opportunity for experienced Tyre Fitters/Technicians to step into a high performing operation. This project offers consistent work and a strong team environment. It’s a great opportunity for those who want to further develop their skills on-site.

The Role

As a Tyre Fitter/Technician you undertake planned and reactive tyre changes/maintenance on a range of mobile mining equipment. You will provide a high level of continuous service on site by supporting the operations of the workshop, office, stock and personnel, ensuring the contracted scope of work is performed and maintained to a high standard.Duties include:

• Undertaking planned and reactive tyre changes on a range of mobile mining equipment: FLEET: CAT 793D, CAT 777, CAT 789, CAT 995 & CAT 6060
• Performing routine inspections and assessing wheel components to remain in service; entering data into our revolutionary tyre management system
• Maintaining pressures and quality in accordance to site specifications
• Upholding our commitment to providing an excellent level of service to our clients

About You

• Preferably a minimum of 2 years of Earthmover tyre fitting experience on mine sites
• A Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical Tyre Fitting Heavy; AUR21916/ AUR21920
• A valid C Class driving licence; HR/LR advantageous
• A current WorkSafe forklift licence
• Possess a high level of initiative and the ability to work well under pressure
• An understanding that safety is paramount, with a high attention to detail to abide by site safety procedures
• Possess a high level of maturity, initiative and the ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work autonomously
• Candidates residing in Darwin are highly regarded
