Job summary

YMCA Victoria is seeking a Centre Manager for the Peter Krenz Leisure Centre in Bendigo. You will provide leadership for day-to-day operations and align services with the YMCA's vision and local council expectations, while inspiring a diverse team to deliver outstanding programs.

You will oversee Customer Care, Aquatic Safety, Health & Wellness, Operations and Learn to Swim, manage budgets, drive community engagement, and promote a safe, inclusive environment for staff and participants.

About the Centre

The Peter Krenz Leisure Centre is owned by the City of Greater Bendigo and proudly managed by YMCA Victoria. The Centre provides a wide range of programs and activities, including Learn to Swim, Group Fitness, Recreational Swimming, Health and Fitness, alongside Stadium & Sports Program and hire. The main goal of the YMCA is to provide opportunities for all people to be more active, more often and help them reach their personal fitness goals. Our friendly team is highly qualified and has the experience to help you reach your training goals – whatever they may be.

About the role

As the Centre Manager of Peter Krenz Leisure Centre you will be a key leader providing leadership and vision for the general operations of the Centre, as well as play a broader role within both the YMCA and Council.

You will lead a multitude of business units including *Customer Care, Aquatic Safety, Health & Wellness, Operations, and Learn to Swim*.

This position is being offered on a full-time basis with a total remuneration package of $103,621 excluding super + Y benefits.

About you

As Centre Manager, you will be a considered decision maker and will be able to manage a multitude of tasks utilising good time management and organisational skills. Additionally, you will be:

• Able to present the YMCA to the local community as well as provide leadership and vision for the facility and its staff.
• Able to work both independently and as part of the leisure team.
• An excellent oral and written communicator, you will be able to work in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo team as well as other community groups to develop programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
• Self-motivated, able to engage staff and the community and will be able to drive the business, while maintaining the assets under your control.
• Organised and have a demonstrated ability to engage staff and improve business performance, with strong project management skills.
• Focused on the customer experience and cultivate a culture of continuous learning amongst the staff teams.
• Have strong general business and financial acumen.Be able to foster a culture of safety at the facility and have experience managing risk
• Aligned with the Y's values is critical for this role.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience in a similar leadership role within the Sports & Recreation industry will be highly regarded but if you have significant team leadership and budget management experience from a different industry, we would love to hear from you.

• Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Business Management, or other related field will be highly regarded
• Previous leadership experience is essential
• Willingness to Obtain Pool Lifeguard Qualification - as to step in when support the team if needed as a Manager on Duty .
• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
