Job summary

The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) invites applications for an entry level Cemetery Operations Officer - Burial, based at our Fawkner site. You will join the operations team, supporting families and stakeholders through burial services while aligning with GMCT policies.

New staff undergo a training needs analysis, with progression to Level 3 after competency assessment in year one. A driver’s license is mandatory and multiple training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Current driver’s license (mandatory).
• Excavator licence (desirable).
• Backhoe (desirable).
• First Aid Certificate (desirable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of manual handling techniques; safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team with day‑to‑day operations such as grave set up and presentation.
• Identify and check accurately the location of a grave site.
• Operate tractor trailer as part of the team.
• Assist families and stakeholders with on‑ground queries.
• Ensure burials and cremations occur per GMCT policy.
