Job summary

Southern Cross Care Queensland is hiring a part-time Catering Assistant at the Caloundra Rise Retirement Village in Little Mountain on the Sunshine Coast. Join a supportive team in a fully functional kitchen, assisting a chef, serving residents, delivering meals and clearing tables in line with the Food Safety Program.

Role offers 32 hours per fortnight across 4 shifts (11 am–3 pm) with ongoing training and employee support programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety (HACCP) is desirable.
• Barista skills or willingness to learn are a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills are valued.
• Effective communication and engagement with residents and colleagues.
• Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
• Show compassion, sensitivity and maturity to provide high-quality meals.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and seat them appropriately.

About the role

Working in a fully functional commercial kitchen and open dining room you will be supporting a chef in production, serving customers, delivering meals and clearing tables for our village residents in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Program.

Some Of Your Duties May Include

• Greeting Guests: Warmly welcoming guests and seating them appropriately
• Taking Orders: Accurately and efficiently taking food and drink orders, paying attention to special requests and dietary restrictions.
• Providing efficient food and beverage service.
• Checking in on Guests: Regularly checking in to ensure guest satisfaction and address any concerns.
• Delivering Food and Drinks: Ensuring orders are delivered promptly and accurately, checking for correct presentation.
• Maintaining a Clean Dining Area: Keeping the dining area clean and organized, including setting tables and pre-bussing.
• Handling Payments: Accurately processing payments and ensuring correct change.Collaborating with Kitchen Staff: Working effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and efficient order processing.
• Participating in Training: Enhancing service skills and product knowledge through training sessions.
• Maintaining a Positive Attitude: Creating a welcoming and positive dining experience for guests.

What will you bring to the role?

• Experience working in commercial kitchen (desired).
