Job summary

Mission Australia in Mareeba, QLD, is seeking a Wellbeing Support Worker to support residents through recovery, facilitate daily activities and promote wellbeing. You will work as part of a small team in Djindigal (Healing Place), a residential AOD service near Mareeba, providing a safe, supportive environment for adults addressing substance use.

This role operates across a 7-day rotating roster with day, afternoon and occasional sleepover shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people affected by Alcohol and Other Drug use (AOD).
• Ability to work trauma-informed and person-centred with residents.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification; valid driver's licence.
• Strong de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Capacity to work independently and build therapeutic relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support residents through daily wellbeing, recreational and life skills activities.
• Facilitate group activities and engagement in therapeutic programs.
• Provide practical support and encouragement to assist recovery goals.
• Respond to challenging situations with trauma-informed practice and de-escalation.
• Build positive professional relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming residential environment that supports recovery.
