Job summary

Ruah in Western Australia seeks two Casual Support Workers to assist women and children escaping family and domestic violence. You will provide practical daily living support, foster independence, and help residents access recovery supports in a trauma-informed environment.

Reporting to the Team Lead, you will engage residents, maintain records, and work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety and wellbeing while upholding respectful, inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Must be female due to the service and client group (genuine occupational qualification).
• Experience in a similar support role with women and children who have experienced family and domestic violence.
• Sound understanding of family and domestic violence, trauma, crisis support and recovery.
• Ability to build professional, respectful and trusting relationships with individuals with varying levels of need.
• Experience working within trauma-informed and culturally informed frameworks.
• Ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure and contribute positively within a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, databases and client reporting systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of diversity, inclusion and cultural safety, including Aboriginal culture and culturally diverse communities.
• Flexible availability to work shifts including mornings, afternoons, overnight sleep shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support women and children living in safe accommodation following family and domestic violence.
• Provide practical daily living support and promote independent living skills.
• Assist with client arrivals, orientation and onboarding.
• Facilitate resident meetings and encourage positive community engagement.
• Maintain accurate client records, case notes and reporting requirements.
• Build positive and professional relationships with residents.
• Identify, respond to and elevate risks, incidents and wellbeing concerns as required.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary support teams.
• Deliver services using trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and culturally safe practices.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all residents.
