Job summary

Fergus Builders in Mackay region is seeking a friendly Casual Residential Sales Assistant to support our residential team through the client journey, from enquiry to handover of new homes. This casual role includes weekend hours and up to three weekdays per week, with up to 60 hours per fortnight and training provided.

You'll help with display home presentation, enquiry handling, marketing activities and general admin while building positive client relationships and learning about colours,

Fergus Builders is a locally owned, award-winning construction company that has been operating since 1983. From our early beginnings, we have grown into a dynamic and diverse business delivering quality Residential, Commercial and Civil projects across the Mackay region. With a strong pipeline of Residential builds, we are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Casual Residential Sales Assistant to join our team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This casual role involves both weekend hours (every second Saturday/Sunday 9.30am-4pm) and weekday hours (up to three days per week) and would suit a university student, school leaver (or similar) who has an interest in interior design, construction, or simply prefers an admin based casual position. Offering up to 60 hrs per fortnight (Week 1: up to 23hrs, Week 2: up to 38hrs), this varied role supports our residential team throughout the client’s building journey—from their initial enquiry and selections through to the exciting handover of their new home. You will also assist with the presentation and operation of our display home, client enquiries, marketing activities and general administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome clients and visitors to our display home and assist with enquiries
• Ensure the display home is presented to a high standard
• Report and coordinate display-home maintenance requirements
• Keep marketing materials current and well presented
• Assist with social media content and other residential marketing activities
• Assist with preparing promotional material for house-and-land packages
• Support clients throughout the building process
• Coordinate new-home handovers, including handover folders, gifts and final walkthroughs
• Provide general administrative support to the residential team

AS YOU GROW IN THIS ROLE, YOU MAY BE TRAINED TO

• Assist with preparing contracts and coordinating contract-signing appointments
• Guide clients through the selection of colours, finishes and fixtures for their new home
• Prepare tiling, painting and finishes schedules for relevant trades
• Meet trades onsite to communicate client selections when required
• Build positive relationships with local developers and land agents

This is a casual position, with hours offered based on business requirements and agreed availability. No prior experience is necessary and all training will be provided. There may be opportunity for this role to grow into a full time role in future.
