Job summary

George & Matilda Eyecare is seeking a friendly Optical Assistant to support our Runaway Bay practice and cover other Gold Coast locations as needed. You will help patients choose frames and lenses, deliver personalised service, and contribute to a welcoming, patient-first clinic culture.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in retail is essential.
• Optical knowledge or experience is highly regarded.
• Able to communicate confidently with patients.
• Flexible and adaptable across multiple locations.
• Willing to work varying hours, including weekends and public holidays.

We're looking for a friendly, adaptable, and customer-focused Casual Optical Assistant to support our growing Gold Coast practice network. This role will primarily support our Runaway Bay practice, while also providing cover across other Gold Coast locations as needed.

This opportunity has become available as one of our valued Runaway Bay team members undergoes medical treatment and requires reduced hours and additional support. You'll also assist with short-term coverage across the region, helping ensure every patient continues to receive the exceptional care we're known for.

About The Role

As an Optical Assistant, you'll:

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses suited to their lifestyle, vision, and budget
• Deliver personalised service and exceptional customer care
• Build strong patient relationships and create memorable experiences
• Develop product knowledge and confidently recommend eyewear solutions
• Support daily practice operations across multiple locations
• Work collaboratively with Optometrists, Dispensers, and support teams

Skills & Experience

• Is passionate about Patient First care and exceptional customer service
• Has retail experience (optical experience highly regarded)
• Can develop product knowledge quickly and communicate confidently with patients
• Brings enthusiasm, energy, patience, and a positive attitude
• Enjoys working as part of a team
• Is flexible and adaptable, with the ability to support multiple practice locations
• Can work varying hours, including weekends, public holidays, and late trade when required
