Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a Mail Sorting Officer for our Mount Barker operation. You will be based at a Delivery Centre, assisting in preparing letters, parcels and Express Post items for the next day’s delivery.

This entry-level role emphasizes safety, teamwork and reliability in a busy processing environment. You’ll work with modern equipment, loading and unloading mail, and supporting colleagues to keep mail moving efficiently.

Qualifications

• Flexible and willing to work extra hours when needed.
• Detail‑focused, reliable and able to handle mail up to 16kg.
• Communicate clearly, work proactively and support teammates in busy environments.
• Experience with pallet jacks or stackers is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Based at a Delivery Centre, support the preparation of mail for next-day delivery.
• Assist with processing letters, parcels and Express Post items; sort mail not machine processed.
• Help load and unload mail from bags, trays and containers; work with the team to keep mail moving safely.
