Job summary

Empower Community Health Care Services (ECHCS) is expanding across the Moreton Bay region and we’re looking for reliable, practical and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our growing team.

You’ll support participants in their homes and in the community, delivering daily living support, personal care and encouragement. We offer flexible shifts and immediate starts across Redcliffe, Caboolture, Deception Bay and North Brisbane with opportunities to mentor and positively impact lives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in disability support, aged care or similar.
• Strong written and spoken English for clear communication and documentation.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Personal care and daily living support.
• Assisting with routines and household tasks.
• Community access and social participation.
• Transport to appointments and activities.
• Meal preparation and domestic assistance.
• Medication prompting or administration where authorised.

About the Role

You’ll support participants in their homes and in the community. While this is not a traditional SIL house, many supports are SIL‑style and focus on daily routines, personal care, independence and individual goals.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Personal care and daily living support


• Assisting with routines and household tasks


• Community access and social participation


• Transport to appointments and activities


• Domestic assistance and meal preparation


• Medication prompting or administration (where authorised)


• Positive encouragement, mentorship and role‑modelling


• Supporting confidence, life skills and independence


• Helping participants work toward personal goals


• Providing calm, structured and consistent support


• Completing progress notes via smartphone

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking dependable, respectful workers who are confident working independently and committed to participant‑focused support.

Ideally you will have:

• At least 3 months’ experience in disability support, aged care, personal care or similar


• Applicants must have strong written and spoken English skills for clear communication, accurate documentation and client safety.”


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries


• Confidence supporting people with diverse abilities and behaviours


• Initiative, reliability and willingness to learn


• Basic smartphone/technology skills


• A genuine interest in mentoring and encouraging participants

Highly regarded (but not essential):

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or Community Services

Mandatory Requirements

• Current Australian driver’s licence


• Reliable, insured vehicle


• NDIS Worker Screening Check


• Blue Card / Working with Children Check


• Current First Aid & CPR


• NDIS Worker Orientation Module


• Smartphone for communication and notes
