Job summary

Psych Connect is seeking compassionate, reliable Disability Support Workers to join our growing team. You will provide person-centred support to NDIS participants, helping them achieve goals, build independence and participate meaningfully in their community.

The role covers children and adults aged approximately 5 to 60 years, including those with high support needs and complex behaviours. Travel between participants and locations is required, with shifts typically 20 minutes to 1 hour apart.

About the Role

Psych Connect is seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our growing team.

You will provide person‑centred support to NDIS participants, helping them achieve their goals, build independence and participate meaningfully in their community.

The role involves supporting both children and adults aged approximately 5 to 60 years, including participants with high support needs, complex behaviours and high‑intensity support requirements.

Support may include daily living activities, personal care, community access, appointments, social participation, skill development and implementing individualised support strategies.

Travel Requirements

This role requires flexibility to travel between participants and their homes or community locations.

Applicants must be comfortable travelling approximately 20 minutes to 1 hour to attend their scheduled shifts, depending on participant location and service requirements.

Our current service areas include:

• North Brisbane: Caboolture, Morayfield and Redcliffe
• Ipswich region: Springfield, Redbank Plains, Ipswich Central, Leichhardt and surrounding areas
• Gold Coast: Upper Coomera, Robina and surrounding areas
• Brisbane: Indooroopilly, Brisbane City and surrounding Brisbane suburbs
• Logan and surrounding areas

Applicants should therefore be comfortable travelling across different locations and understand that participant locations may vary from day to day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualised, person‑centred support based on participant goals, needs and support plans.
• Support children and adults with a range of disabilities and support requirements.
• Assist with personal care, daily living tasks, meal preparation and household activities.
• Support community participation, appointments, recreational activities and social engagement.
• Support participants with physical, intellectual, psychosocial and developmental disabilities.
• Work confidently with participants who may have complex or high‑intensity support needs.
• Implement positive behaviour support strategies where required.
• Support skill development and encourage greater independence.
• Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation.
• Build respectful and professional relationships with participants, families and support teams.
• Follow participant support plans, organisational policies, NDIS requirements and workplace procedures.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold participant dignity, choice and privacy.

Essential Requirements

• Current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Reliable, roadworthy vehicle with appropriate insurance.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20 minutes to 1 hour to attend shifts.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness to obtain.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
• Previous experience supporting people with disability, complex behaviours, high support needs or mental health needs.
• Experience working with both children and adults is highly desirable.
• Understanding of person‑centred support and positive behaviour support practices.
• Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends.
• Strong communication, professionalism and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a support team.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a similar qualification.
• Experience supporting participants with high‑intensity or complex support needs.
• Experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern.
• Experience with restrictive practices.
• Experience providing personal care.
• Experience with medication support.
• Experience with manual handling and mobility support.
• Knowledge and understanding of NDIS processes and documentation.
• Experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Experience working with children and/or young people with additional support needs.
