Job summary

Calvary Ryde is seeking a casual Cook to prepare and cook high-quality meals for residents in casual shifts in Ryde, NSW. You will work with the kitchen team to meet dietary needs, safety standards and budget considerations.

The role focuses on bulk cooking, menu planning, and ensuring timely service while maintaining a clean kitchen and strict hygiene practices. Experience in aged care cooking is preferred, with training opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation.
• Ability to plan menus to meet standards (Food Act and OH&S).
• Ability to order food to meet menu cycle and budget.
• Understanding of infection control and safety principles.
• Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment (stoves, ovens).
• Completion of HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head chef to plan, prepare, and cook meals for residents, considering dietary requirements and preferences.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to create nutritious and appealing menus.
• Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen following food safety and hygiene protocols.
