Job summary

Falcam’s Early Learning on Rossi (ELOR) is seeking a casual Centre Chef to start immediately. You will prepare meals for up to 100 children across three daily meals, manage allergies, and align with NSW Health Munch and Move guidelines.

The role supports staff with service delivery and requires strong food safety practices. Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III in food preparation, NSW Food Authority certifications, and a Working with Children Check; two references and WWCC checks are

Qualifications

• Owner/operator requires a current NSW food safety qualification and certificate to work with children.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain Working with Children Check.
• Understanding of child safety and NSW health guidelines is essential.
• Experience in childcare catering is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

Casual Centre Chef Required- Immediate Start

Early Learning on Rossi, located in Country Yass NSW is a private, family-owned and operated Early Childhood Education and Care Service, with Provider Approval under Falcam Pty Ltd for over 17 years. Early Learning on Rossi (ELOR) is an established Child Safe Organisation, employing child safe employees who are committed to prioritising children's safety, wellbeing, health, and protection.

ELOR is licensed for 100 children per day, operates 52 weeks a year, from 7am-6pm daily.

Role:

We are seeking a regular Casual Chef/ Cook for an immediate start to join our team

Essential Criteria:

• Certificate III in food preparation or equivalent
• Food Supervisor or Food Handlers Basics Certificate-NSW Food Authority
• Working with Children's Check (or willingness to obtain, we will pay for this for you!)
• National Child Safety Training Certificate- Free and available to all

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working as a cook in a childcare centre or similar environment
• Experience preparing meals for children with allergies
• Understanding of the National Quality Standards, surrounding kitchen and food preparation
• Childcare qualification

Child Safe Criteria:

• This position has been identified as child related work and only child safe applicants need apply.
• We will require a current WWCC, to assess a person’s ability to work safely with children, based on any known incidents that indicate the person poses a risk of harm.
• Applicants will be subject to restriction and probation checks, including qualification checks
• You will be assessed on your commitment prioritising children being paramount in your values, practice and work history.
• You will have an understanding and be able to clearly explain your Child Protection obligations as a Mandatory Reporter, be able to articulate when to report and demonstrate how to report child protection concerns
• Past child related employment details, dates and contact details are to support your application
• Provide two past child related work- based employer references from a supervisor for reference checks to be conducted, one from your most recent previous employer.
• Successful employment requires your details to be uploaded onto the National Early Childhood Workers Register.
• Non-Australians residents or citizens, only need apply with Australia work rights as per their visa, applicants are subject to VEVO checks.

Key Responsibilities;

• Food preparation for up to 100 children, 3 meals per day
• Be able to manage child allergies, dietary requirements, religious and cultural food preferences
• Support the health and well-being of the children through preparing nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with the NSW Health Munch and Move program
• Assist centre staff with meal service delivery in line with safe food handling practices.
• Ensure all centre catering facilities adhere to food safety policy.
• Ensuring staff in all centres maintain safe food handling practices and compliance.
• Ensuring kitchen and food service areas are clean, safe and hygienic to industry standards
• Be involved in special events and children’s birthdays
