Job summary

Taronga Zoo Dubbo is seeking a Casual Chef to join Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s hospitality team, contributing to Café Wild, Café Waterhole, Savannah function center, Zoofari Lodge and Serengeti kitchen. You’ll prepare and present high-quality meals while maintaining hygiene and cost controls.

Reporting to senior kitchen staff, you’ll train apprentices and help drive sustainable kitchen practices, with a supportive team and flexible hours in a busy, visitor-facing environment.

Qualifications

• Commercial Cookery - Certificate III
• RSA certification or the potential to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food as per Taronga menus
• Plan menus and determine food and labour costs in consultation with stakeholders
• Execute orders of food, kitchen supplies and equipment
• Demonstrate techniques to apprentices and advise on cooking procedures
• Maintain and enforce hygiene regulations
• Comply with Taronga's Customer Service Charter and suggest initiatives for further improvement
• Comply with sustainability practices in the workplace
• Report Work, Health and Safety incidents as required
